Authentic Chimichurri Steak Sauce
Argentina’s Chimichurri Sauce is an herb condiment. Often times, it consists of cilantro, lemon, vinegar, and spices. As a result, it is a tangy herb sauce with fresh garlic and earthy oregano. In Argentina, it is a culinary speciality. Traditionally, it is served with grilled steak and chorizo sausages. The sauces unusual name originates from “Jimmy McCurry.” An Irishman who was said to have been the first to prepare the sauce. He once marched in sympathy for Argentine independence with the troops of General Jasson Ospina in the 19th century. As a result of the locals finding it difficult to pronounce his name, they called him Chimichurri.
